"I believe that life is a game, that life is a cruel joke, and that life is what happens when you're alive and that you might as well lie back and enjoy it."

– Neil Gaiman, American Gods

Comic Feels: RHATO #6

roserelease:

I’m going to be upfront about this: I am extremely pleased with how this issue played out. I have been holding my breath ever since this issue and the intention behind it was announced, but this was honestly a big bundle of pleasant surprises. I have very few issues with this, well, issue. And the issues I do have are more based in continuity-related confusion than anything else.

Okay, like last time, everything is underneath the cut.

Warning: spoilers and fangasming everywhere. It gets a little messy, especially in the “Likes” section.

THIS. THIS SO MUCH.

I seriously love how Kori is radiating love and she’s trying to understand Jason and MAN THAT PANEL WHEN SHE GAVE JAYBIRD A BITCH GLARE BECAUSE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT HER LIKE A PET. I love it. The characterization of both Jason and Kori are spot on in this issue, and I could say that this is my favorite so far, along with #3.

But yeah. Jason and Dick were supposed to be brotherly when Jay was Robin. Dick cared about him (he screamed the dramatic “NOOOOOOO” when he found out that Jason was dead), and Jason admired Dick, though he may be a little jealous of him. The flashback was out of character, because it seemed like they couldn’t stand each other? I remembered Jason being excited and happy during his Robin days — he may be impatient, but it’s more of a yeah-I-can’t-wait-to-beat-up-bad-guys kind of impatience, not the Dick-you-ass-don’t-tell-me-what-to-do
